Free keeps your original documents and saved view-only work accessible. Correspondence, transcript and Scratchpad workspaces require Starter or Pro; saved excerpts remain readable. You can always back up every matter.

Before you subscribe.
How does activation work?
Check out with Stripe and we email a one-time activation link — one click opens Lexware and you're done (or paste the code in Settings → About). After that the app renews silently: there's no monthly key to paste.
Do I need an account?
The desktop app has no login. To download or subscribe, you verify your email and accept the licence agreement. If you subscribe, Stripe collects your billing details and sends tax invoices; your activation link arrives by email. Your matters stay on your computer, with the off-device options described in our privacy guide.
What's the difference between Starter and Pro?
Starter gives you the whole workspace — chronology, pleadings, bundles, every export and handoff, date extraction and full-text search — for up to five active matters; archive one to free a slot. Pro removes the matter limit and adds Assist, the customisable AI over your matter (your own Claude or ChatGPT), and the iPad companion. Everything else is the same.
What happens if I stop subscribing?
When your paid access ends, Lexware becomes Free. You can read and mark up your existing documents, view saved chronology, pleadings and notes, and back up or copy every matter folder. Free allows up to three matters for new brief imports. Paid editing tools, exports and full-text search require Starter or Pro; Assist and the iPad companion require Pro.
Does the licence check see my matters?
No. It sends one opaque subscription id and gets back a validity date. No matter content, no document names, no record of what you opened — and it's cached, so Lexware keeps working offline for a grace window.
Is there a trial?
Every new install starts with 2 months of Pro — no card — just your email. When it lapses, Lexware becomes the Free tier; subscribe when it's earning its keep.
